Bubble Earth - Animation

Projects No Comments

This is an animation I was commissioned to do by one of my friends from University to promote his group’s software for a competition.

I really like how this turned out. It took a while to do, and I nearly went insane several times from it but I learnt a lot and managed to produce my first frame-by-frame animation (in a matter of speaking.

Hope you enjoy this new version with almost twice as much animation as before. :)

Victoria Video Competition

Everything, Projects 1 Comment

The project was also a competition, judged by DNA design from Wellington a large Design firm and the Victoria University marketing board. We presented it today, in front of about 50 students doing the same thing.Judging from the feedback we got from the audience though, it went down really well. Even the judges and tutors called it “slick” and “professional”.I’ll come down off my euphoria eventually. Till then, please don’t disturb me on cloud 9.

New project coming along nicely

Everything, Projects No Comments

I’m not going to spill to many secrets about what I’m up to, but here is a quick glimpse at the beginnings of the engine for my new game. Hopefully, I can put it on the net but size might be an issue since it will probably be quite video intensive.

10 till I release my next project.
Crap that’s almost no time at all. Better get working.

Processing into Flash - Cows can fly

Projects No Comments

I didn’t think it was possible (heck of COURSE it was possible I just didn’t understand how) to get processing to send variables into flash but it is. For my next project for Digital Media we have to create a physical button that controls interactions on the screen. The majority of us are using wiring boards to take info from switches and make processing do some fancy things.

I’m chasing something a little different however. I’m using processing to catch the states of the buttons (on, off or true, false) and sending them to flash through a local socket server in order to control movement on the screen. I have a working script at the moment which takes info from three buttons hooked up to a wiring board and transmits their states (true, false) to flash which displays them as text fields on the stage.

If you want to use my script for sending you own information into flash then download the source here.

Randomosity - An Experiment in Colour

Project 3 - Digital Media Design

For this project, we were required to make an interactive game or toy for developers which demonstrated use of colour and patterns. I kind went overboard a bit with this one as I tried to cram in a ton of fancy things that probably weren’t needed but made it look damn cool anyway.

So without further ado, I present to you Randomosity!

Another another another blog *do be doodly doo*

Projects, Life No Comments

Urgh. Look at the time. Two-thirty in the morning and I take it into my head to set up my third blog in total.

Why do I need three blogs? (actually, now that I think about I have Bebo as well so that makes four. Crap.) Well it could be because two of the other ones floating around have approximately one post on them each. That is unacceptable. And pretty embarrassing.

This is going to be the project weblog of Burning Water so people can keep updated with what projects I’m working on are currently active and anything else I decide to post that is design related. Final projects will be announced here first then updated on my new portfolio site (which is also “in progress”).

I’ll also keep my personal blog running on here as well for all of you wonderful people who want to watch every second of my fascinating and riveting life (Sheesh, please tell me you’re not that desperate) with all the wacky hijinks, shenanigans and general tomfoolery that I get up to every day during my quest to become a designer.

You may or may not be disappointed. Inversely. With rabbits.
